چکیده
The Ranger Robot is based on the approach of dynamic walking. Although it has already been shown that dynamic walking works in practice, it has never been shown that this method is reliable for walking a long distance. On April 3 2008, the Cornell Ranger walked a world record distance of 9 kilometers. It is the first walking robot to walk such a distance without being touched by any person, and without replacing or recharging the batteries. Fig. 1. The Ranger robot during the record attempt

Ranger, an Example of Integration of Robotics into the Home Ecosystem
This paper presents the concept and an example of robject, a robotic entity embedded in an everyday object. Robjects use the affordance of the original object to ensure an efficient interaction and a high acceptance. The example of the ranger robot shows that this approach can be applied to the domestic environment. We explore the integration of a robot (robject) into a family household, by reg...

متن کاملExperiments with a Team of Miniature Robots
This paper presents several experiments with a large team of heterogeneous robots. The team consists of two types of robotic agents. The rst type is a larger, heavy-duty robotic platform, called the \ranger." Rangers are used to transport, deploy, and supervise a number of small, mobile sensor platforms called \scouts," the second type of robotic agent. In an example scenario, the scouts are de...
متن کاملDynamic Object Identification by a Moving Robot Using Laser Data
Detection of moving objects around a mobile robot is important for safe navigation. This paper presents a robust technique for detecting moving objects using a laser ranger mounted on a mobile robot. After the initial alignment of the two consecutive laser scans, each laser reading is segmented and classified according to object type, stationary, non-stationary or indeterminate. Laser reading s...
متن کاملAUV SLAM and Experiments Using a Mechanical Scanning Forward-Looking Sonar
Navigation technology is one of the most important challenges in the applications of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) which navigate in the complex undersea environment. The ability of localizing a robot and accurately mapping its surroundings simultaneously, namely the simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) problem, is a key prerequisite of truly autonomous robots. In this paper, a ...
